Wellness Center | Structural Yoga Therapy
Structural Yoga Therapy is the thoughtful use of yoga postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama) and meditation techniques to help alleviate physical and mental conditions or illness. It is based on Ayurveda (the ancient sister science to yoga) and the teachings of Mukunda Stiles (author of Structural Yoga Therapy and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy).
Structural Yoga Therapy focuses on the prevention and treatment of the leading causes of discomfort and disease. It is suitable for all those suffering from chronic or recurrent illness, injury and pain. The most common complaints that can be significantly helped are musculoskeletal issues like back pain. But people come for many reasons: pain in a specific joint/or area, fibromyalgia and other auto immune diseases, fertility, digestive or emotional issues, osteoporosis, scoliosis, carpel tunnel syndrome, depression, anxiety and weight management.
Because SYT treats the whole person, it can go beyond other methods of treatment. The student can get teachings in many areas if they wish – development of a spiritual practice, incorporating Ayurveda into their lives or practices to heal the emotional body.
Structural Therapy Sessions are conducted by René Quenell, Certified Yoga Therapist and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
