Class Descriptions

Gentle:
A 1 hour class of gentle stretching exercises and breath work combined with relaxation, all at a slower pace.   This is a perfect class for beginners, those in need of stress-reduction, and those who may have limited mobility.

Beginning:
A class for all students new to yoga or checking in with the basics. Focus is on breath, fundamental poses and vocabulary. While classes will usually be somewhat challenging physically, they are taught at a slower pace, with detailed explanations of alignment and a focus on practicing the poses correctly. No experience or flexibility is needed.

Mixed Levels:
This class is suitable for students with some prior experience. Focus will be on building strength and flexibility. There will also be more advanced breathing and meditation techniques. As appropriate, deepen your practice by exploring more challenging poses such as backbends, arm balances and inversions.

Yin Yoga:
Yin Yoga shares the same goals as other forms of yoga but often involves a slower pace and postures that are held longer to target the body's connective tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, and bones. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles.

Restorative Yoga:
The Art of Doing Nothing. Deeply opening poses, held for several minutes with the use of props. Emphasis is on breathing, healing and letting go.

Vinyasa Flow:
In this class, your body gets safely warmed up from the inside out. "Vinyasa" refers to the linking of breath and movement. As students transition between postures, their breathing patterns match, and determine the pace of, each move. The result is a graceful, rhythmic, dynamic practice that simultaneously energizes and relaxes.
